Assignment
In May 2003, BKT Strategy started working with this billion dollar market cap specialty pharma company. The objective was to work with the Chairman, CEO and senior VPs to develop and implement their vision for the company.
Approach
The initial focus was to conduct a detailed strategic review to deliver the company’s vision to expand into multiple products and indications in the acute care field.
Following the success of the initial three month project, an extended two year contract was signed to cascade the strategic plan through the organization and to develop strategies and implementation plans for all business units and support functions; this included the development of clear metrics and actions plans. For each business unit a detailed marketing program was developed including Target Product Profiles, message and issue planning and prototyping of study reports and promotional materials for the major marketing initiatives in acute care and for the development of a new product. In total these programs represent an investment of over $80 million.
Result
The company achieved most of the objectives established under the strategy plan and was the target of several acquisition approaches.
